Silica‐Decoration Boosts Ni Catalysis for (De)hydrogenation: Step‐Abundant Nanostructures Stabilized by Silica
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ni nanoparticles supported on SiO2 were decorated with additional SiOx species by impregnation tetraethoxysilane (Si(OEt)4). The combination of electron microscopy, infrared analysis, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the SiOx-decoration made surface morphology highly rough step-abundant due to significant stabilization low-coordination-number sites. SiOx-decorated exhibited 50 times higher catalytic activity for dehydrogenation methylcyclohexane toluene than pure Ni. DFT Ni(211) step sites had a more favorable C−H activation Ni(111) terrace well reproduced experimental apparent energies.

Silica-Supported Au–Ni Catalysts for the Dehydrogenation of Propane
Inspired by previous studies on model systems, a series of silica-supported Au–Ni catalysts were prepared and tested for the conversion of propane in the presence of hydrogen. The Au–Ni/SiO2 catalysts were prepared by successive impregnation, i.e. Ni was deposited first followed by Au. TEM/EDX results confirmed the presence of bimetallic Au–Ni nanoparticles. The dehydrogenation of propane to pr...
متن کاملPhase-Selective Catalysis in Emulsions Stabilized by Janus Silica- Nanoparticles
Metal-containing Janus particles are used as interfacial catalyst/emulsifiers that catalyze reactions in biphasic systems with controlled “phase selectivity”, that is, conversion of the desired reaction on one side of the emulsion. The reaction may affect the solubility of the molecule in one phase, causing migration to the opposite phase. As a result, combined reaction and separation can be ac...

I "C -X-H+Acc(ox)--> C =X+Acc(red)H 2 I / H This type of reaction should be differentiated from the oxygenase reaction, in which the substrate electrons are transferred directly to oxygen. The limiting chemical step of the dehydrogenation, i.e., the rupture of the kinetically stable substrate C-H bond, is catalyzed by enzymes which have either pyridine nucleotide, pyridoxal-phosphate, flavin-, ...
متن کاملEmulsions stabilized by carbon nanotube-silica nanohybrids.
Emulsions have been stabilized by carbon nanotube-silica nanohybrids. The as-prepared nanotube-silica particles generate water-in-oil (w/o) emulsions, regardless of the water/oil volume ratio used. The emulsion volume fraction was much higher than that obtained with nanotubes only, and it was found to increase with water/oil ratio due to an increasing amount of water retained in the emulsion dr...
متن کاملControlled nanostructures for applications in catalysis.
Over the last decades, tremendous progress has been made in the control of catalytic materials on the nanometer size scale. This includes tailoring of pore sizes of catalytic materials by different soft and hard templating techniques, size control of catalytically active metal particles by solution phase synthesis of such particles and subsequent deposition on supports, the placement of catalyt...
